Issue

When importing a SolidWorks assembly into KeyShot, the following error occurs:

No geometry retrieved from {file path}/{assembly name}.SLDASM.
Possible causes:
File version may be unsupported.
You may need to export polygonal data from your modeling system.

Cause

  • Error code 7 occurs when using an unsupported CAD version with KeyShot.

Resolution

Workaround 1

Downgrade to Solidworks 2022.

Workaround 2

Upgrade to KeyShot 2023.1 or later.

Workaround 3

Use the KeyShot Plugin for Solidworks (the plugins use a different technology than the importer and will often not have these limitations.).
